We have, like I said last blog, recorded most of the video. All we need is the school clips and we should be good. If we get to finish recording on May 3rd then we have the idea of editing from May 4th- May 12th. Robert and I will be editing this film. Robert still doesn't know how to transfer the clips to my computer or to anyone yet so hopefully we can get that settled.
Focusing back on our film, the reason why we did the final scene to is because it takes place at Robert's house when he finds out he is going to war. We didn't wait for the school scenes so it stays in order. We wanted to finish our filming as quickly as possible. We did the filming out of order so we can complete it well.

First Recording Completed
Great news! We have gotten our first recording finished and have around 45 seconds of the film. This took a few hours but it was a very productive recording. We had everything we can record at home. The only clips we need are clips to be filmed at school. Once we get those clips we will finish our film and it will be ready to edit.
We recorded our beginning and ending of the film. The school scene was in the climax and middle of the film. That is why it isn't as easy to edit the film yet. We want to record our school clips on May 3rd. After that we will finish our whole film. This film will end near the 1 minute and 45 seconds mark. The lowest it will be can be 1 minute and 30 seconds and maximum would be around 1 minute and 55 seconds.

Group member is gone
Well to make matters even worse. Justin will be gone the whole spring break to record now. No Jack or no Justin. He couldn’t leave on a worst time. We were planning on recording Saturday and we still believe to do it. Justin not being here sucks but then again he doesn’t do much to begin with. Also good to know that Justin didn’t have any major role in the film so we don’t need to replace him.
Good things to look at is that Logan can bring a friend to help record the film. We can use him to replace Justin. Also he probably will do more than him so it can be beneficial. The plan is still to record Saturday and most of spring break. We’re also looking at Monday and Tuesday to finish the recording. We have to utilize spring break to our advantage is we want to make the film perfect.

Update on Director
Well our hope of using Jack to help film our film will not be happening. He can’t film on the days we can film. He is going to be away on vacation and won’t be here for us to record. It’s a blow for our group but we will just go back to what we were planning on doing, Jack would have been a major addition to our film group and could cause major benefit to us.
What this means now that I will go back to directing and filming our film. We also won’t get the benefit of using his camera to record the film. Now we have to go back to the iPhone 8. It’s not the worst situation to be in but it sucks to not have him. He gave us some tips on how to improve our shot on an iPhone so that at least is a benefit we got from him.

Getting A Director
Throughout this whole year of aice media studies, I’ve thought about people I know that love making film. The one person that always comes to my head is a friend named Jack. He’s goes to McCarthy and his dream is to become a director in film. He’s made many high end videos on twitter and YouTube. He’s loves everything about film, the cameras, the editing, etc... His future is definitely in film production.
Then that is where the other day I met him. He was walking his dog while I played basketball and that’s where we talked. We were judging talking normally about life because we haven’t seen each other in a while. That is when he brought up about a film he is recording. That’s when I remembers about mine and said my idea to him. I told him about the film and the project and thought it was cool class I was taking. That’s when I thought of the idea to ask him about directing our film. It seemed perfect idea for him to help us out, especially because we aren’t the best in film. However, he isn’t sure he can direct it. The timing for him and us aren’t on the same path. There might no be a window of oppirtunity to film this with him. If there is, we definitely will use him and make a great film. Now we hope to acquire him to do a film with us.

How filming will work
Who's gonna record this film? What is he/she gonna record this film with? What accessories will we use to record this film? Well all these questions will be answered now. To start off, I will record this film. Based on past films we created, Justin & Robert filmed our videos. However, those films did not do well on grades based on the recording aspect. We have to change things up so it is now me doing it. I do have a history of recording films however I didn't record our previous films because it was usually me in the film. Now it is different so I have the opportunity to do it.
We are either recording with an Iphone 8 or Iphone X. We will use an Iphone X if Robert gets one or not in the upcoming weeks. We are not sure he will get it but for the backup it will be an 8. With an 8 we can record our clips in 4k at 60fps. That is extremely good to have and will do the work we need to make the film. It isn't near a good camera or professional look but we aren't that so it is alright for it. Using an Iphone will make our product just as good.
Accessories we have for the film is a selfie stick, microphone, and other phone accessories in the film. The selfie stick would be used for high angle shots. We have a microphone for voice overs and to make our volume perfect and crisped. The other accessories are to help stabilize the recording of the film. We don't want shacking in our shot so these accessories will help out a lot.

Group Feedback Session
Today we talked to other groups about our movie idea and to see what is good with it or stuff that can be worked on. The overall reviews were good, but there is things we need to work on. We have received some fantastic ideas and it should help improve our film.
They liked the idea of a military type film to do. It is more original for these film openings and can be done to separate ourselves from the rest. The only issue with the war film that it isn't based on a real event and doesn't have that sense to it. We don't have the authenticity of a film like Dunkirk or Wardogs. We have to make you feel that kind of way.
The main issue with our film was how to make it entertaining to watch. Most war movie beginnings are very slow and not entertaining. That is a major issue if you only make an opening to the film. How do people want to watch this film based by the opening. An solution to this scenario would be adding a second character to Robert. Make him the comedic relief to the film. Our Schedule
This is our schedule for recording our clips. We have to start recording them before spring break because my group members won't be here for most of it. The idea of the filming was so we can get these shots on time and give us time to edit the clips. We hopefully have enough time to record based off of our busy schedules.

What is our film about
This film like I’ve said before is around Robert living his normal life then all of a sudden gets a envelope saying he’s been drafted into the army. Throughout the first day out of the two day event in the film we will drop hints throughout the film. We will have either a radio station or tv station news cast over a new war happening. This war is the United States vs North Korea. That is the battle that Robert will be fighting in.
This movie is about the war but because it’s obpy the opening, no action will be involed. Also we don’t have the skill level or technology to produce an action film like that. The opening will give detail to the whole situation. We will also give good character development in the opening so viewers won’t get confused throughout the film. Developing Robert’s character is key to the success of this project.
The film will be following Robert on both days around. To show how life is normal but all of a sudden it changes forever. It will have parts of P.O.V to show his life in a better view. This film is all about Robert and his view on everything. This film is through Roberts eyes and brain.

Our Characters
Robert will be our main character for our film. The film will be directed around his life. He has the looks and mentality to be a typical army dude. He is the right person for this clip. I'm actually getting excited for how this potentially can become. These thoughts are getting bigger and looking more realistic.
Justin and I won't have any significant character. We will likely play side roles explaining the whole story. We plan on having a newcast give the setting and plot of the story. That’s where you will likely see us two be in. We are just going to have side roles while Robert is the main character.

Our Genre
This is taking way to long to figure out. We’ve spent a week on our theme and genre and now we need to solidify the genre and move on. Once we release the genre we can work on schedule of uploading and our storyboard. Our genre is an action drama film.
The film will be a military type film that is a about a man who lives a ordinary life and then receives a paper of being drafted into the military. An example of an action drama film would be The Dark Knight Rises. Even though there won’t be any action in the film opening, you can understand that the rest of the film will have action.
The movie will be a slow moving film from the start. The opening is to have to give character development to our main character and an overview of his life. We will show what his life is like and then at the end of the opening is him finding out he has been drafted. We will also include the war and events throughout the development of his life.

Comedy Vs Drama
Wow, after thinking the idea of this film is gonna be comedy, we do a complete turnaround and plan on doing a drama film. This is getting annoying to think of. After reviewing films by other students from previous films, the trend was a drama film. There was nothing else but only drama/horror type films. Those films are also the easiest to produce.
If we do a drama film, we want to break the fourth wall. For example Deadpool do that brilliantly https://youtu.be/h7qYcQjsv0E . I understand that Deadpool is a comedy however just the thought process is a very good idea. Our film will more than likely have comedy but will focus more on a drama film.

What I’m good at
The genre of the film I want to be is comedy. I’m looking at the comedy of horror comedy, just like the movie “Scary Movie”. I have an idea of making comedy of other films. It is to make fun of them or make them funny like you haven’t seen it before. My best ideas involves comedy in film. It just makes it easier for me to produce something that I enjoy doing. Making people laugh and having a fun time is my genre and my lifestyle. I feel like if my group and I want to succeed we need to focus more on our strengths rather than our weakness. If we put our strengths in all gears we are going to have a solid film.

I do need to write a script soon. I never thought that script writing can be hard but it really is. Coming up with ideas and making comedic ideas is something that’s not as easy at first thought. Only having 2 minutes to pretty much give the main idea of the entire film is a lot. I somehow need to fit it all in it and make it comedic. Man I hope I figure out a plan real soon.
